I once blogged that there are certain laws that should be implemented [for me] without any warning on the part of the offender and there laws that should give a warning or a few warnings first before fully implementing it for certain reasons.

A typical example of a law that should be implemented without any warning is the law concerning stealing by an individual or an organization. Stealing is stealing. It's a law that everyone knows and has a very serious effect on the victim. And there's zero valid reason for committing such crime thus fully implementing the consequences of such offense is a must.

But the law about improper singing of the National Anthem for me is a law that could be given warnings first before full implementation just like in the latest issue of Martin Nievera singing Lupang Hinirang during the Pacman-Hitman fight in Las Vegas. Although, it's a general knowledge [thanks to Pacquiao's fights] that every Juan should sing our National Anthem should be in accordance to the law and with that, The Concert King is at fault. It's like knowing that stealing is against the law but still you steal something.

But in fairness to Martin, singing a song is something a singer sings from the heart. I know because I sing as well. And the law about singing the National Anthem should be amended as for me the point of singing it according to the law is non-sense as times already changed. Most of the songs in churches when I was still an active Catholic already changed from mellow to pop to keep up with the times. There are a lot of other disturbing issues that should be focused on by the politicians and this "singing of the National Anthem according to the law" is not one of them as it's not that pressing. Meaning, it doesn't have any direct effect to anyone aside from the ego and pride of some. There is no perfect law but a law should be something weighed more for the good or benefit of the majority.

For me, it's more nationalistic to proudly sing our National Anthem from the heart than not sing it at all because people are afraid to sing it because they might be punished by authorities for singing it not in accordance to the "beat, tempo, etc." of the law. I sing, but with that, I might as well forego the idea of singing it as well anywhere [me being a "maarte't malanding" singer as told by my relatives and friends]. To the politicians, it would be best to focus more of your limited energy [that's why it should only be focused on "pressing" issues as all issues are important but not all are pressing] to issues such as the environment, economy, terrorism, etc.
